ABOUT ME

I’ve spent my life manifesting—trusting that clear intention and aligned action could build the joyful, creatively abundant life I longed for. And it did, including:

  • Two book deals with the exact publishers I named

  • A fellowship at a highly competitive MFA program

  • Three specific dream jobs that sought me out

  • A full-time coaching career I truly love

As a poetry coach who has helped hundreds of clients achieve their writing goals, whether establishing creative habits, publishing in top literary journals, compiling a manuscript, or being accepted into their dream MFA program.

I’m the author of Future Tense (forthcoming from Alice James Books, 2026) and Boat Burned (YesYes Books, 2020). I’m the winner of the Jane Underwood Poetry Prize and the Neil Postman Award for Metaphor. My poems have appeared in: The Adroit Journal, Best New Poets, 32 Poems, Los Angeles Review, Sixth Finch, and elsewhere. I’ve received fellowships from the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing and the Kenyon Review Young Writers’ Workshop.

In addition to coaching, I’m also a curriculum consultant for Get Lit-Words Ignite and other nonprofits. I’m the co-author of the Literary Riot books, Voices in Verse: Poetry, Identity and Ethnic Studies; Stanzas of America: Celebrating BIPOC Poetry; and Words Ignite: Explore, Write and Perform Classic and Spoken Word Poetry, which are currently taught in the Los Angeles Unified School District. My sister, Kat Thomas, and I won Best Feature-Length Screenplay at the Portland Comedy Film Festival for our romantic comedy, Magic Little Pills. I live in Benicia, California, and am currently working on my first Young Adult novel.
